I was originally trained as a fine art photographer before I moved to painting with encaustic. My "Yesterday" image is from a scholarship I received in college for a small group of applicants to work on the 20 x 24 in Polaroid camera, one of just 3 in the world! They flew this giant beast of a large format camera from New York to California and after a week of preparation we each got 3 hours to work with it, producing instant prints just like smaller Polaroid's, but magnificently larger. I eventually started combining my photography with encaustic wax painting, and the Today work you see in the show represents my move to pure painting, though I still teach photo encaustic techniques in my Vancouver, Washington studio.

Yesterday
