Please keep in mind that not all artists have gallery pages and not all work is posted here.   Sales are contracted directly through the artists in order to provide the greatest selection for our patrons.  Many of our artists also accept commissions, teach private and group classes and arrange workshops.

Many local businesses feature artwork throughout Ridgefield.  Our art galleries stay open late on First Fridays, many have exhibit syear-round and our artists also exhibit during community celebrations.

A group of businesses at the Heron Gate Building sponsors artists at the Heron Gate Gallery.  It is located at the Ridgefield Junction on the second floor at 2 South 56th Place. (West side of the Chevron Station). Hours are M-F from 9:00 am- 7:00 pm and Saturdays 10:00-2:00.  Artists from the greater Clark County area, including many RAA members, are participating.  Exhibits are changed approximately every six weeks.

Battle Ground Art Alliance

Spring Show & SaleSaturday, March 20, 10am-8pm Sunday, March 21, 11am to 4pm

Artists’ Reception Saturday, March 20, 5:00 to 8:00pm with Awards at 6:30

The Spring Show & Sale of Fine Arts & Fine Crafts, Paintings, Pottery, Glass, Jewelry, Fabric Art, Hand Pulled Prints, Glass, Sculptures, Woodworks, Basketry, & Ovo Art will be held at the Battle Ground Community Center, 912 East Main St, Battle Ground, WA.  The event is free and open to the Public.         

The public is invited to view the art, vote for People’s Choice and listen to music from 10am to 8pm Saturday, March 20, and 11am to 4pm on Sunday, March 21.  The artists’ reception is Saturday, March 20th from 5-8pm with the awards ceremony at 6:30.  Battle Ground Mayor Mike Ciraulo will present awards. Local musicians of all genres will perform during the entire show.

Prior to the show opening submissions will be juried & judged by Don Landes-McCullough, Art Department Head at La Center High School.  “Don has transformed our school from a gulag to a palace!” said the La Center High English Department Head, Sharon Bryant.  He teaches Art, Drama & Fashion Design.  He’s traveled on 4 continents and visited historical artworks from the Mayan ruins to the Egyptian pyramids.  He’s studied glass with several area studios, and spent 2 summers studying classic marble carving in Pietrasanta, Italy.  His works have been shown in several galleries and are in both private and museum collections.

Local musicians will provide entertainment from 11am to 8pm on Saturday.  Saturday Music World flute students will perform from 11 to noon, followed by Connie Mitchell on the Harp from 12 to 12:30. Then Wayne Hoffman from the Clark County Benign Band will perform from 12:45 to 2pm, unplugged.  The Fargher Lake Boys, Dick & Jay will perform old time & country swing from 2:15 to 3pm.  Blind Ray, Acoustic Blues Review will play at 3:15 to 4pm & Just For Fun will play country from 4:15 to 5pm.  This will lead us to the Artist’s Reception when James Manuele will play classical guitar both before & after the awards presentation. During the show Sunday the Battle Ground High School Choir and Jazz Band will perform.  

BGAA is hoping to have a record crowd in the large space at the Battle Ground Community Center. This is a free family event to be enjoyed by everyone.  

A donation of canned food for North County Community Food Bank would be appreciated.    Artists will be coming from all over Southwest Washington to display their work.  Battle Ground High School, Hockinson High School & CAM High will have a special student art exhibit.

Alcove Gallery Presents:

Award-Winning Woodturner
Dan Baker


Award-winning local Woodturning artist, Dan Baker, will be the featured Artist during the month of March, 2010 at the Alcove Art Gallery in downtown Ridgefield. An artist’s reception is planned for the evening of March 5th from 5 PM to 8 PM with complimentary wine and refreshments. Any attendee can enter a drawing which will be held during the reception to win a $25.00 gift certificate.

Dan is a member of the American Association of Woodturners, Cascade Woodturners Club, the Northwest Woodturners Club and is in his first term as President of the Ridgefield Art Association.  He has been working with wood since he was introduced to woodturning in high school as a teenager. He became involved in full time wood turning in 2004 and has actively displayed his work in many venues, including Ridgefield’s Heron Gate Building, Ridgefield Art Association shows, Battle Ground Art Alliance shows, the Alcove Art Gallery and has been the featured artist at the Cupola Art Gallery.

He received the Best of Class award in the Master Craftsman Division in 2009 for the work he entered in the Clark County Fair’s county-wide Master Craftsman Competition. In addition, he has received several first place awards in both the Battle Ground Art Alliance and Ridgefield Art Association exhibits.

Working with domestic and exotic hardwoods, his works include segmented wood turnings, which are made up of multiple pieces of contrasting woods, bowls, hollow forms and closed form vessels , ornaments  and sculptural pieces.        

Patricia Thompson

The public is invited to join Artist Patricia Thompson at the Alcove Art Gallery located at 328 Pioneer St. Ridgefield, WA on February 5th from 5-8 p.m. for the '1st Friday' Artist Reception.  Patricia will be the 'Feature Artist' throughout the month of February. She will have an eclectic variety of fun and colorful artwork. The highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of her sculpture "Zen Stan".

Patricia enjoys creating artwork in a number of media which include, pastel, fabric, wood, beads, wire, block prints, paper and fabric mache. The Alcove will be having a drawing that evening for a framed original limited edition block print of Patricia's titled "2009 BirdFest Heron".  Invite your friends and come out for an evening of wine, hors d’oeuvres and fun!

ART AT THE HERON GATE:

Ridgefield Art Association invites you to a reception featuring the art of Wanda McEvoy (oil painter) and Susan Williams (photographer) at Heron Gate Gallery, 2 South 56th Place on Saturday, December 5, from noon to 2:00pm. This is in conjunction with Hometown Celebration.
