Artist's Statement
I started painting in watercolors in the early 1990's when my
daughter said, "Mom, you can do this!" and lent me some brushes and paints. I
took a few classes, and found a wonderful avocation.
I love the grayed
colors of the Pacific Northwest: lots of soft blues and greens. The play of
light and shadow makes the paintings come alive. Many of my paintings are of
water and boats. I traveled along the west coast of Vancouver Island in a kayak
long before there were cell phones and instant communication. We were on our
own!
Recently I have become president of our new art gallery in Ridgefield,
Washington, Alcove Art Gallery (
www.alcoveartgallery.com).
These watercolors were created by
Kathy Winters. She also sells prints and cards. Her contact information is below.
