Artist Statement:
I lived in the Ridgefield/Vancouver area during most of my youth and now live in Kalama Washington with my husband. During the last twenty years in my non-artist life, I have worked in Ridgefield as a barber-cosmetologist.
The first time I did a real painting was in 5th grade at Camp Bonneville at the outdoor school for kids. I won first place for an autumn landscape in watercolor but did not paint again until 1993. Over the last 16 years I have studied with Bev Hink-Birdwell, Peggy Kopkie and Lee Bowman.
I joined the Ridgefield Art Association and began exhibiting my work in 1995 winning several awards including First Place and Best of Show. My main medium is watercolor, but I enjoy pastels and oils as well.
My subjects often include nature, landscape, candid portraits, and wildlife but I particularly love the challenge of painting the intricacy and beauty of flowers.
